Flow Cytometry and Cell Sorting

Fee Structure and Booking Policies

Booking Policies MoFlo XDP

  • A biosafety information form must be filled out and signed by the PI for each new experiment that will require flow acquisition and sorting on the BeckmanCoulter MoFlo.
  • For booking requests, please contact the facility coordinator.
  • The hours of operation are from 9:30 to 17:00.
  • Cell sorting appointments may be a minimum of one hour and a maximum of seven hours in length.
  • Sort appointments can be booked 48 hours in advance. When booking appointments less than 48 hours in advance you must confirm your appointment with the facility coordinator by phone.
  • Users will be billed for the time booked and any additional time used. Users may exceed their scheduled appointment time as long as the instrument has not been booked by someone else and will be charged the normal rate for the extra time used.
Cancellations and appointment modifications
  • Users who wish to cancel or modify their appointments more than 24 hours in advance must call or send an email to the facility coordinator. The facility coordinator will update the calendar to indicate the new available time slots.
  • Users not coming to their appointments or cancelling less than 24 hours in advance will be billed with a cancelation fee of $100. Users in this case must inform the facility coordinator.
After-hour appointments
  • After-hour appointments can be booked no more than 48 hours in advance from 17:00 to 20:00 and will depend on the facility coordinator availability. To book an after-hour appointment, please contact the facility coordinator Fernando Ortiz by phone: (613) 737 8899 x73916.

Booking Policies BD LSR Fortessa

  • All the users of the BD LSR Fortessa must be trained by Fernando Ortiz or prove that they have received appropriate training.
  • Bookings must be performed more than 24 hours in advance to facilitate usage of every researcher. If a modification is done due to experimental conditions or other issues, the researcher must contact the other users of the day and coordinate with them the coming modification.
  • Users cannot overlap other researchers’ times unless agreed by both members. If the user requires more time but the next user needs to use the instrument, they will have to wait until the second is done.
  • Shut down and clean up procedures must be performed at the end of the session to avoid contamination for future users.
  • The instrument is open 24/7 for usage, but we highly recommend using it during work hours, from 9:00 to 17:00.
  • If the user is responsible for breakdown of the instrument due to user negligence, we will proceed to revoke this user privileges to access the Flow Cytometry & Cell Sorting Services.

Booking Policies SONY MA900

  • All the users of the SONY MA900 must be trained by Fernando Ortiz or by Carole Dore and must pass a test in other to operate the instrument.
  • Bookings must be performed more than 24 hours in advance to facilitate usage of every researcher. If a modification is done due to experimental conditions or other issues, the researcher must contact the other users of the day and coordinate with them the coming modification.
