Everyone in health care uses the best evidence, right?
January 22, 2014
Sadly, no. In order to tackle the vexing challenge of research-use in the clinical setting, Dr. Janet Squires has been awarded a highly competitive New Investigator Award from the Canadian Institutes of Health Research. Dr. Squires will synthesize existing literature and conduct interviews with healthcare professionals to accurately describe the clinical context into which research knowledge must find its way (often called knowledge translation). After identifying what helps and hinders this process, she will develop ways to improve it. Dr. Squires is an associate scientist in the Clinical Epidemiology Program whose primary appointment is with the School of Nursing in the University of Ottawa’s Faculty of Health Sciences.
