Stem cell discovery tops U.S. list of science media releases

Dr. Michael Rudnicki’s discovery of a trigger that turns muscle stem cells into brown fat garnered more attention than any other discovery posted on the science news website EurekAlert! in 2013. Operated by the American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS), EurekAlert! includes science media releases from thousands of universities, hospitals, journals and funding organizations. The news release, titled Fighting fat with fat: Stem cell discovery identifies potential obesity treatment, was visited more than 660,000 times in 2013. See EurekAlert! top 10 list for details.
