Higher dose of blood thinner improves treatment of cancer-associated blood clots
June 3, 2014
Dr. Marc Carrier
has published a study in the journal
Thrombosis Research
providing evidence that it is safe and effective to escalate the doses of blood thinners known as low molecular weight heparin (LMWH) in patients with cancer-associated blood clots, or thrombosis. This approach has long been suggested as a potential treatment option for patients who experience recurrent cancer-associated thrombosis, but had not been substantiated by a clinical study.
