Dr. Dawn Stacey co-hosts International Shared Decision Making Conference

Dr. Dawn StaceyDr. Dawn Stacey co-hosted the International Shared Decision Making Conference in Quebec City with Dr. France Légaré. More than 400 people from 22 countries participated in the conference, which focused on Patient-Oriented Shared Decision Making Research. The conference was certified as a Patients Included event, with more than 40 patients and caregivers participating, presenting and helping to plan the event. Claire Ludwig, a doctoral student at the University of Ottawa who is also undergoing cancer treatment, provided a keynote presentation on her experience engaging with a research team from the patient perspective. She also spoke about evidence from her own systematic review on patient engagement. Dr. Stacey leads The Ottawa Hospital’s Patient Decision Aids Research Group, which houses the largest repository of patient decision aids in the world. Many members of the Ottawa team attended and presented at the conference.
