Vancouver Sun profiles patient in OHRI-led MS bone marrow stem cell transplant trial
March 12, 2008
This
Vancouver Sun article
titled "Parents rejoice over daughter's stem-cell miracle" profiles Leah Telder, a 24-year old MS patient in the bone marrow stem cell transplant trial led by Dr. Harry Atkins and Dr. Mark Freedman. The experimental therapy is based on the fact that MS involves the immune system attacking the brain and nerves. The bone marrow stem cell transplant attempts to “reset” the immune system and thus prevent further damage from occurring.
