The Ottawa Health Decision Centre (OHDeC) was established in November 1995 as part of the Clinical Epidemiology Unit of the Ottawa Health Research Institute (formerly the Loeb Health Research Institute) at the Ottawa Hospital.
OHDeC consists of a team of investigators adjoint to the faculties of Medicine and Health Sciences at the University of Ottawa. Researchers have built and tested 'friendly' decision support tools to help patients and professionals make better decisions.
Patient Decision Aids
Help patients and their practitioners work through 'tough' health or social decisions.
Physician Decision Rules
Help practitioners decide whether X rays or CT scans are needed for trauma patients.
