Race Weekend raises more than $350,000 for The Ottawa Hospital

June 3, 2014

Supporters of The Ottawa Hospital ran for a reason during Tamarack Ottawa Race Weekend, raising $353,235. More than 1,900 runners and 32 teams, including 10 Hospital teams, collected pledges for numerous areas of research and care at The Ottawa Hospital (TOH) through Run for a Reason. This year, The Ottawa Hospital Foundation honoured former OHRI Board Chair Jackie Holzman with the 2014 “Spirit of the Run” award for her longstanding dedication to the cause. The Holzman Family Team, along with Christina Walker’s Pancreatic Cancer Purple Team, raised a combined $58,764.35 at this year’s Ottawa Race Weekend – money that will be used to purchase a new bioreactor system for Dr. John Bell's team to manufacture oncolytic viruses that fight pancreatic cancer.
