Please contact Emma Brown at emmabrown1@ohri.ca if you would like the meeting link.

NOTE: If you would like to be added to the HAD - Health AI and Data Science team on MS Teams (including the HAD JC seminar mailing list), please join the team using code: owfh55e. If you are external to TOH/OHRI and would like to be added, please email Emma Brown at emmabrown1@ohri.ca.

This is a two-part workshop series. Part 1  will be an introduction to dplyr, and will be held on Monday, October 28th. Part 2 will be an introduction to ggplot2, and will be held on Monday, November 4th. A recording of both parts will be available in the HAD JC MS Teams channel afterwards. If you would like to view the recording and do not have access, please email emmabrown1@ohri.ca to receive the link.

Intended audience:

- Beginner programmers interested in learning R

- Individuals familiar with coding in other languages but new to R

- Those with experience using base R but want to transition to the tidyverse

Participants should have a basic understanding of programming concepts such as variables, data structures, and functions.

Presentation details:

In this workshop, participants will explore the fundamentals of data visualization by learning how to create essential types of plots, including bar plots, line plots, and scatter plots. Through hands-on exercises, you''ll gain practical experience in using ggplot2 to effectively communicate your findings and enhance your analytical skills.

Follow along:

The code used during the lesson will be made publicly available on GitHub closer to the workshop date. If you want to follow along with the coding exercises, please ensure you have R and RStudio installed locally or have access to a Posit Cloud account (use the free version of this web-based IDE). You should also have the following packages installed: tidyversepalmerpenguinshere, and RColorBrewer. Feel free to reach out if you need help setting up your environment before the workshop.

Please note that OHRI seminars are open to all members of OHRI and partner institutions. Members of the general public are asked to contact the communications office (jganton@ohri.ca) for more information about the research presented at OHRI seminars.
