“As the COVID-19 situation continues to evolve and new vaccines and treatments are developed, it is more important than ever that decision makers have access to timely, high quality evidence” - Dr. Jeremy GrimshawTo ensure decision-makers have access to the best COVID-19 science in a timely manner, the Government of Canada is investing $1M in the COVID-19 Evidence Network to support Decision-making (COVID-END). This network, co-led by Drs. Jeremy Grimshaw, John Lavis, Andrea Tricco and Nancy Santesso, will collaborate and rapidly respond to the need for synthesized Canadian evidence and knowledge across the full breadth of Canada’s COVID-19 pandemic response (including public-health measures, clinical management, health-system arrangements, and economic and social impacts). COVID-END will work with Canadian and global partners to reduce duplication of efforts, enhance development and coordination of knowledge synthesis and other related products, and provide current evidence to decision-makers at the federal, provincial, and territorial levels. It will bring together more than 25 Canadian evidence-synthesis teams and leaders of key Canadian initiatives, governments and health authorities.
“As the COVID-19 situation continues to evolve and new vaccines and treatments are developed, it is more important than ever that decision makers have access to timely, high quality evidence,” said Dr. Jeremy Grimshaw, head of The Ottawa Hospital’s Centre for Implementation Research and professor at the University of Ottawa.
The Government of Canada is providing the funding for this research through the Canadian Institutes of Health Research (CIHR). See the media release for details.
COVID-END co-leaders: Dr. John Lavis (McMaster University), Dr. Jeremy Grimshaw (The Ottawa Hospital, University of Ottawa), Dr. Andrea Tricco (SPOR Evidence Alliance at St. Michael’s Hospital of Unity Health Toronto), Dr. Nancy Santesso (Cochrane Canada).
The Ottawa Hospital is a leading academic health, research and learning hospital proudly affiliated with the University of Ottawa.
