Dr. Kednapa Thavorn has been recognized for her outstanding contributions to research design and patient involvement in economic evaluations, which are taking the assessment of drugs and medical devices in new directions. She is the winner of the 2023 Dr. Maurice McGregor Award for Rising Stars from CADTH, Canada’s drug and health technology agency.
As drugs, diagnostic tests, medical devices, and procedures become more complex, the research methods that underpin their assessment must continually adapt to keep pace. Dr. Thavorn is at the forefront of this advancement in Canada, as both a methodologist and health economist.
She has made critical contributions to research design and economic modelling at The Ottawa Hospital through groups such as the Ottawa Methods Centre, the Centre for Implementation Research and REthinking Clinical Trials (REaCT).
Dr. Thavorn is also in the early stages of a new research focus, which involves engaging patients in economic evaluations and demonstrating the unique perspectives that patients bring to the patient journey and key outcomes. See CADTH press release.
