Researchers at The Ottawa Hospital awarded 13 CIHR grants worth more than $7 million

Researchers at The Ottawa Hospital are playing a lead role in 13 new projects awarded more than $7 million from the Canadian Institutes of Health Research (CIHR).

These projects will advance science and improve health in areas such as tuberculosis, cancer, thrombosis, environmental sustainability, surgery, stroke, atrial fibrillation, lung injury, arthritis and skin infections.

“These research projects will help us provide the best care possible for our patients and community, while advancing science and improving health on a global scale,” said Dr. Duncan Stewart.

The Ottawa Hospital Research Institute had a success rate of 30% percent in this competition compared to the national average of 22% percent and our hospital currently ranks among the top five in the country for CIHR funding.
