Dr. Andrew Scarffe

In addition to his role as Health Economist here at the Ottawa Methods Centre, Dr. Andrew Scarffe is also a part of the Health Economics and Healthcare Resource Optimization (HERO) group. Andrew completed his PhD in Management with a concentration in Health Systems at the Telfer School of Management at the University of Ottawa. He also holds a Master of Science in Health & Rehabilitation Sciences from Western University, as well as a Graduate Diploma in Business Administration from Thompson Rivers University. Prior to his doctoral studies, Andrew worked at the (former) Ivey International Centre for Health Innovation at the Ivey Business School at Western University where he designed, implemented and evaluated health innovation solution for senior bureaucrats, healthcare executives and some of Canada’s largest companies. Dr. scarffe is an active member of the Academy of Management’s Healthcare Management division and has experience as a part-time professor at the Telfer School of Management teaching in both the Masters of Health Administration and Bachelor of Commerce programs. Broadly, Andrew’s research interests fall at the intersection of decision sciences and strategic management, for which he applies these interests to a healthcare context. Outside of academia, Andrew is an avid skier, for which his favourite mountains are Sun Peaks and Revelstoke in British Columbia, as well as Lake Louise in Alberta.
