Research Activities
Specific Research objectives:
• To characterize how the interplay between cancer cells, cancer-associated fibroblasts (CAFs), cancer-associated adipocytes (CAAs) and macrophages influence immunotherapy response.
• Evaluate how alterations in the tumor microenvironment due to metabolic diseases (e.g. obesity) shape the tumor and impact virotherapy responses.
• To unveil and characterize the putative function of RNA interference (RNAi) as an antiviral innate immune mechanism in cancer cells.
Impact of our Research:
Findings from our research will provide new light on the role of the tumour microenvironment during virus-based therapies and could contribute to the development of innovated and more effective anti-cancer therapies.
