Study With Us
The Psychology and Health Research Group is currently accepting applications for undergraduate practicum placements, honors thesis project supervision, graduate student supervision (MA, MSc, PhD), and post-doctoral fellowships.
Undergraduate student opportunities
Students interested in psychology honors thesis supervision should contact Dr. Presseau or Dr. Brehaut with an indication of their research interests and how these might align with Dr. Presseau’s or Dr. Brehaut's research program. We advise reaching out as early as possible, ideally in the summer of the year preceding the 4th year.
Carleton University undergraduate students interested in gaining applied research experience within PaHRG may also be eligible to participate in Carleton University practicum program, providing a 4-month part-time practicum in the group. Spaces are limited; we recommend reaching out early.
Graduate student opportunities
Prospective students (MA, MSc, PhD) should email Dr. Presseau or Dr. Brehaut in the first instance with an indication of their research interests and how these might align with the group's research program. Students are strongly encouraged to apply for graduate funding (e.g. from CIHR, SSHRC, OGS) before starting their graduate program. Applications are typically due in September every year. Graduate students are expected to work on their research on a full-time basis unless otherwise arranged, including during the summer months.
MSc and PhD students are expected to disseminate their work at conferences and in peer reviewed publications during their graduate studies. MSc students should aim to publish 1-2 papers from their thesis, and PhD students should aim to publish 3-6 papers. Graduate students are expected to attend and actively participate in PaHRG events and to assist other graduate students. Graduate students should endeavor to work hard but maintain a good work-life balance in as much as is feasible.
Post-doctoral fellowship opportunities
Researchers interested in pursuing a post-doctoral fellowship should contact Dr. Presseau or Dr. Brehaut directly.
