Job Description
A full-time Research Technician position is available in the laboratory of Dr. Mario Tiberi at the Ottawa Hospital Research Institute (OHRI), located at the RGN building of the University of Ottawa. The Tiberi laboratory focuses on studying the regulation of dopamine G protein-coupled receptors. The research involves investigating the cellular and molecular mechanisms that modulate signaling, post-translational modifications, and interactomes of dopamine receptors. Additionally, the lab explores how these mechanisms influence dopamine receptor function in cell culture systems and animal disease models (e.g., Parkinson’s disease, stroke).
The successful candidate will work closely with the Principal Investigator to support research activities, as well as assist graduate students and postdoctoral fellows in the laboratory.
Basic Requirements (Education/Experience):
•3-year college diploma or a BSc degree
•Lab management, ordering, data analysis, and record keeping skills.
•Experience with cell culture, molecular biological techniques, site-directed mutagenesis, immunoblotting, immunohistochemistry, and ELISA is beneficial.
•Excellent oral and written communication skills in English
•The candidate should possess a strong work ethic and the ability to work independently while being part of a research team.
•Superior organizational and record keeping skills with a keen attention to details.
Preferred Qualifications:
•A M.Sc. degree or a minimum of a Bachelor's degree with relevant experience is preferred.
•Experience in mouse genotyping by PCR, breeding, genetic crossing, and mouse colony maintenance is an asset.
Contract Details:
This is a 1-year full-time contract with the possibility of renewal.
Salary: min: $22.573 - max: $32.619
