The Ottawa Hospital Research Institute (OHRI) is the research arm of The Ottawa Hospital, enabling and overseeing all research conducted across our hospital's three main campuses. Its integration with The Ottawa Hospital helps align research activity with clinical operations, institutional processes, and hospital infrastructure, supporting efficient study planning and operationalization.
Important information for industry sponsors
Indirect costs: OHRI’s institutional policy requires a 35 per cent indirect cost rate for industry-sponsored clinical research.
Research Ethics Review: Industry-sponsored studies conducted at The Ottawa Hospital require appropriate institutional and research ethics approvals. The Ottawa Health Science Network Research Ethics Board (OHSN-REB) provides streamlined ethics review for The Ottawa Hospital and several other health care institutions in Ottawa. OHSN-REB also participates in broader streamlined review pathways including Clinical Trials Ontario and the Ontario Cancer Research Ethics Borad for province-wide studies and CanReview to support streamlined research ethics review for participating sites across Canada.
