Bio

Dr. Kilty completed his undergraduate training at the University of Waterloo and his MD and subsequently his Otolaryngology Head and Neck Surgery residency at the University of Ottawa. Dr. Kilty completed his fellowship training in Advanced Rhinology and Endoscopic Skull Base Surgery at Université de Montréal.

Dr. Kilty is a subspecialist who clinically manages patients with diseases of the nose, paranasal sinuses and skull base (rhinology). His research interests focus on treatment strategies for the management of sinonasal diseases.

Research Goals and Interests

My research interests are in clinical trials and treatment strategies for sinonasal and skull base diseases.

ENDOSCOPIC POLYPECTOMY PERFORMED IN CLINIC (EPIC)

Endoscopic Polypectomy In Clinic (EPIC) is a recently developed, deescalated form of endoscopic sinus surgery (ESS) performed in the Outpatient Clinic instead of the Operating Room for patients with chronic rhinosinusitis with polyps. EPIC represents a potentially disruptive innovation requiring rigorous evaluation before its widespread adoption. We are performing a non-inferiority RCT trial that will allow us to determine if EPIC is as effective as the current standard of care ESS.  For this work developing and testing EPIC, Dr. Kilty has received  several grants, including a CIHR grant through the Project Grant Competition.
