1:00 PM - 2:00 PM
uOttawa - RGN Room 2003 and ZOOM

Speaker

Yi Liu

Yi Liu, PhD

Scientist, Regenerative Medicine Program, Ottawa Hospital Research Institute (OHRI) Assistant Professor, Dept. of Cellular and Molecular Medicine (CMM), uOttawa

Learning Objectives

1. Define a new gene regulation pathway underlying Rett syndrome and autism.

2. Condensate-driven gene contact hubs shape chromatin organization.

3. Use human-mouse embryo chimera models to study tumor immune dynamics

Yi Liu is a Scientist at the Ottawa Hospital Research Institute and an Assistant Professor at the University of Ottawa, where he started his lab in August 2025. Yi received his PhD in Molecular Genetics from the University of Toronto and further completed his postdoctoral training in stem cell biology at MIT in the laboratory of Rudolf Jaenisch. His lab uses advanced human model systems, including iPSC-derived neurons, interspecies human-mouse embryo chimeras, and spatial omics, to study gene and chromatin regulation pathways in neurodevelopmental disorders and cancer.
