Job Description:

This position is responsible for carrying out wastewater sampling activities in a remote Arctic community as part of an ongoing public health research study. This role requires a highly organized, self-directed individual who can work independently while maintaining strong relationships with community partners and research staff. The successful candidate will perform wastewater sample collection, processing, documentation, and shipment to laboratory facilities. The position also involves supporting research operations and data management.

  Key Responsibilities:

• Conduct wastewater sample collection according to established study protocols.
• Process and prepare samples for laboratory analysis.
• Package and ship samples to designated laboratories in accordance with applicable regulations and procedures.
• Maintain accurate records of sampling activities. 
• Enter, organize, and manage study data using an electronic databases.
• Ensure compliance with safety procedures and study protocols. 
• Contribute to additional health research initiatives as required

  Required Qualifications:

• Completion of post-secondary education in health or environmental studies. An equivalent combination of education, training, and directly related experience may be considered.
• Valid driver's license and reliable access to a vehicle.
• Familiarity with and knowledge of the local Iqaluit community.
• Strong computer skills, including data entry and electronic record management.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision. 
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail. 
• Ability to adapt to changing priorities, field conditions, and operational requirements.
• Demonstrated problem-solving skills and initiative.

  Asset Qualifications

• Previous experience in research, environmental monitoring, public health, or community-based programs.
• Knowledge of Good Clinical Practice (GCP) and research ethics.
• Experience working in northern, remote, or Indigenous communities.
• Fluency in Inuktitut.
