Bio

Dr. Lisa Caulley is a clinician-scientist and otolaryngologist-head and neck surgeon with expertise in health economics, evidence synthesis, and clinical epidemiology. She holds dual faculty appointments at the University of Ottawa and Aarhus University in Denmark, where her research focuses on clinical decision sciences to improve care in otolaryngology-head and neck surgery.

Dr. Caulley obtained her medical degree from the University of Toronto, followed by residency training in otolaryngology-head and neck surgery at the University of Ottawa. She holds a Master of Public Health from the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health and a PhD in Epidemiology from Erasmus University Medical Center. She completed subspecialty fellowship training in Rhinology and Skull Base Surgery at Guy's and St. Thomas' NHS Foundation Trust in London, UK.

Her research program combines cost-effectiveness analysis, large database studies, and evidence synthesis to support high-value care and equitable health outcomes, with particular focus on rhinology, endocrine tumors of the head and neck, and health equity. She also has an active research interest in publication science and journalology to improve research quality and transparency. Dr. Caulley currently serves as Director of Equity, Diversity and Inclusion in the Department of Otolaryngology – Head and Neck Surgery at the University of Ottawa and holds a Clinical Research Chair in Clinical Decision Sciences. She is also a Deputy Editor at NEJM Evidence and Editorial Board Member of CMAJ.
