Inflammation and Chronic Disease Program

The Ottawa Hospital Research Institute’s Inflammation and Chronic Disease Program includes 599 scientists, clinician investigators, trainees and staff.

Our research touches on everything from basic science to improve our understanding of immune mechanisms in chronic diseases, to developing and testing new treatments, to implementing more effective care processes.

Some of the medical specialties based in our program include dermatology, endocrinology, family medicine, gastroenterology, general internal medicine, geriatric medicine, hematology, infectious diseases, medical imaging, nephrology, obstetrics and gynecology, orthopaedic surgery, palliative care, pathology and lab medicine, pharmacy, rehabilitation, respirology and rheumatology.

We are also home to a number of basic and translational scientists in areas such as kidney research, infectious diseases, cardiovascular disease and reproductive health.

We actively engage a wide variety of partners in our research, including patients and family members, medical and allied health professionals and others.
