Research Interests
Academic and Clinical Interests
• Preclinical to clinical (i.e. “bench-to-bedside”) translation (I co-lead the Blueprint Translational Research Group at the Ottawa Hospital Research Institute). We are actively funded by Canadian Institutes of Health Research (CIHR), New Frontiers in Research Fund (NFRF), the Canadian Stem Cell Network, and other national sources.
• Cell therapy for perioperative medicine and critical illness
• My group integrates patient partners throughout our research (i.e. “patient engagement”)
• We are currently conducting Canada’s first multilaboratory studies
• We are studying and implementing methods to reduce bias and improve rigour in bench/preclinical research• Meta-research (e.g. preclinical and clinical systematic reviews)
• I am also a member of the Centre for Journalology and have a special interest in Predatory Journals
