Brain Capillary Blood Flow Regulation: From Neurovascular Signaling to Pericyte Contractility
1:00 PM - 2:00 PM
uOttawa - RGN Room 2003 and ZOOM
Speaker
Fabrice Dabertrand, PhD
Associate Professor, School of Medicine Departments of Anesthesiology (Pri) and Pharmacology University of Colorado Anschutz
Learning Objectives
1. The role of brain capillaries in regulating cerebral blood flow during neurovascular coupling, with emphasis on capillary-to-arteriole electrical signaling and how this process is altered in autism spectrum disorder.
2. How pericyte contractility contributes to capillary blood flow homogenization, and how loss of this function in CADASIL disrupts cerebral perfusion.
3. Integrate electrical and mechanical mechanisms of capillary blood flow regulation to understand how distinct microvascular failures contribute to neurological disease.
