Bio
Dr. Marta Berrio is a cardiac and transplant-trained anesthesiologist and a faculty member of the Department of Anesthesiology and Perioperative Medicine at the University of Ottawa. She is also affiliated with the Vascular and POCUS teams. Dr. Berrio is a Fellow of the American Society of Echocardiography (FASE), certified in Point-of-Care Ultrasound by the American College of Chest Physicians, and recognized as a POCUS Local Mentor by the American Society of Anesthesiologists.
Dr. Berrio is passionate about education and research on POCUS and TEE. She also holds a fellowship in knowledge translation, which provides her to conduct patient-oriented and perioperative outcomes research. Her primary research focuses on POCUS, echocardiography (TTE/TEE), and perioperative medicine, with a specific emphasis on older and high-risk populations.
