Job description
The Hatching Ideas Lab is seeking a Clinical Research Coordinator to join our multi-investigator mental health research team for a maternity leave coverage. The successful candidate will be involved in both behavioural and pharmaceutical trials in the treatment of a variety of mental health conditions.
Key Responsibilities Include but are not limited to:
- Oversight of activities for multiple projects, including regulated and non-regulated trials, qualitative and observational studies, and support of junior staff.
- Assisting with protocol development, preparation, review, and submission of regulatory applications.
- Supporting recruitment of participants, consent and study visits, conducting qualitative interviews, data collection, entry, and qualitative data analysis.
- Processing study payments, document maintenance, internal monitoring, and grant writing support.
The position also supports knowledge translation and lived experience engagement and so may also include organizing meetings, communicating with lived experience partners, organizing payments, assisting with designing lay materials (like visual abstracts), as well as other related tasks (such as presentation preparation, manuscript preparation and formatting, and referencing). The position may also involve biological sample handling and processing. The position is hybrid with at least 3 days per week in-person (up to 5 days per week), with studies across all three campuses and in the community. Community work includes shelters, day programs, and supportive housing settings.
Basic Requirements
Education/Certifications:
- Undergraduate degree, in a related discipline, such as Mental Health, Health Sciences, Psychology, Epidemiology.
- Evidence of research ethics training (GCP, TCPS-2).
- Evidence of Division 5 training is an asset.
Employment Experience:
- Minimum 5 years' experience in a human clinical or health research environment.
- Demonstrated experience in regulated and non-regulated clinical trials including completing regulatory applications and study operations.
- Demonstrated experience recruiting and consenting participants for research studies.
- Demonstrated experience conducting study visits for a variety of trial designs.
- Knowledge of Mental Health research and/or standardized assessments in mental health and clinical trials are a strong asset.
- Experience with Qualitative research (interviewing, coding etc.)
Personal Qualities:
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (written and oral).
- Excellent organizational and time-management skills required to coordinate multiple studies.
- Excellent problem-solving and decision-making skills required.
- Flexible and cooperative spirit with a strong commitment to team efforts.
- Outcome-driven with the ability to work independently or minimal supervision, including working from home.
Other Skills/Qualifications:
- Excellent computer skills (MS Office Suite; REDCap or other electronic data capture systems).
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with Electronic Medical Record systems (Epic preferred).
- Proficiency with reference manager software (EndNote)
- Experience with preparing presentations, manuscript formatting, referencing, and/or preparing conference submissions.
- Professional experience and comfort dealing with issues that relate sensitive topics, such as symptoms related to mental illness, including suicidal thoughts and behaviours, substance use and/or trauma.
- Working with vulnerable populations is considered an asset
Contract Details
The contract is a full-time position as a 1-year maternity leave coverage with a possibility for extension
Salary
Min: $66,643 - Max: $88,856
