Proteomics Core Facility

Proteomics Core Facility

Mass spectrometry

Studying protein-protein interactions and their aberrant expression is essential for unravelling the complexities of cellular processes, disease mechanisms, and drug development; making proteomics indispensable in advancing biomedical science. The LC-MS Proteomics Core Facility leverages the high-resolution and sensitive capabilities of the Orbitrap Fusion Lumos mass spectrometer. The facility specializes in maximizing the identification of proteins in your sample, determining their relative quantities, and the characterization of post-translational modifications.

The Proteomics Core can accept samples in a variety of formats:

  • Digested peptides in solution and ready for LC-MS analysis.
  • Proteins in solution (such as from cell lysates) or pre-bound to beads
  • Purified proteins in SDS-PAGE gel bands.

And Core can analyze them in a variety of ways:

  • General detection of the proteins present in your sample.
  • Label-free quantitation of the detected proteins (label-based quantitation strategies are also welcomed).
  • Discovery of post-translational modifications (PTMs) and other proteoforms.
  • Targeted detection of a few proteins of interest in an antibody-free manner.
  • Customization of sample preparation and analysis strategies.

For grant writers

Proteomics is a powerful tool that can be used to drive the generation of new hypotheses. Alternatively, it is a valuable dataset that supplement's your findings from orthogonal experiments, such as RNA-Seq.Since proteomics requires expensive equipment and highly-trained staff, it is advisable to plan and budget for proteomics work within your grants. OHRI Proteomics Facility provides several services to aid this process.

Consultations

We are available to consult you on how to best incorporate proteomics into your future projects whether as a central focus, or as a valuable supplementary dataset in Multi-omics studies.

Subscription Program

For proteomics-intensive research, core facility subscriptions and volume discounts may be available.

Support Letters

We can provide letters of support confirming the availability of proteomics services that support your proposed research and grant applications.

Drafting a Methods Section

We can draft a methods section for your theses and publications or provide method details to better inform poster design.

Prices

The Proteomics Core facility is dedicated to meeting your unique project's needs. To have a better idea of our services and pricing, please contact proteomics@ohri.ca to arrange a consultation and the provision of a quote.

For clients planning to submit 20+ samples in a year, a subscription service exists as a cost-effective alternative. High volume and pilot study discounts may be available.
